"Annie" premiered on Broadway on April 21, 1977 and ran for 2,377 performances.

The comic strip "Little Orphan Annie" was started in 1924 by Harold Gray. It was originally written for The Chicago Tribune.

Columbia Pictures made a movie version of "Annie" in 1982. It starred Aileen Quinn as Annie, Albert Finney as Daddy Warbucks, Carol Burnett as Miss Hannigan, Bernadette Peters as Lily, and Tim Curry as Rooster

Disney's version was made in 1999, and starred Kathy Bates, Victor Garber, with Alicia Morton as Annie.

 

The original Broadway version of "Annie" was written by Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse, and Martin Charnin.

The musical Annie tells a Depression-era rags-to-riches story of an eleven-year-old orphan who yearns to escape from the orphanage run by the mean-spirited Miss Hannigan.

 

When Daddy Warbucks decides to adopt Annie, her dream comes true!
