Sharon Stevens

SHARON MARSHALL (Nee STEVENS) was born in UK and migrated with her parents to Australia in the 1950s. The Stevens family took up residence in Sydney (possibly the North Ryde area) in New South Wales before moving to Frankston (Victoria) in 1961. At the time, Sharon was approximately 15/16 years of age.

Among Sharon's close friends was fellow Riverside Girls High School student Kay De Looper who, along with her sister, Alison, and brother, Derek, lived in Tavistock Street, Drummoyne (Sydney) - a regular meeting place for the teenage 'group' of which Sharon was a part.  Kay De Looper - now Kay Leabon - lives in Adelaide, South Australia, and is the last person in the Tavistock Street 'gang' of friends to have had contact with Sharon. That, however, was back in the early 1970s when Kay was on holiday in Victoria.

Sharon had a younger brother, Duncan Stevens, and a much younger sister, Tiarni Stevens. Her father, Steve Stevens, was a merchant seaman whose 1961 employment posting to Victoria ultimately led to the family's move to Frankston and Sharon's separation from her teenage friends.

In the weeks immediately preceding the Stevens Family's 1961 relocation to Frankston, Victoria, Mr & Mrs Steve Stevens, and their young family - Sharon, Duncan and Tiarni - were temporarily accommodated at the Polding Street Drummoyne residence of Mr/Mrs Hocking.  Mr Hocking was, then, Principal (or 'headmaster' as it was called back then) of Gladesville Public School.
