Coach Craig Morphett foreshadowed the likelihood of Team NSW going on tour in 2004, announcing plans were well under way for visits to the Australian Capital Territory,  Victoria and New Zealand.   Team Manager, Col Pegler, disappeared immediately after the announcement - allegedly in search of a bookmaker "at any odds!"

In the lead-up to the October NSW State Carnival, the Sydney West Primary Schools Boys Softball Tournament convened at International Peace Park on Tuesday 26 August 2003.  This is fertile ground for selectors as 10 area Representative Teams compete.  The winners of Pool A (Castle Hill) met the winners of Pool B (Penrith) in the Grand Final.
